Waldtraut Jedamski, MD, MBA, MPH
Dr. Jedamski joined The Pain Clinic in August 2019. While she has education and training in multiple specialties, her passion is treating patients who suffer from pain. She has been practicing Interventional Pain Management for many years, and is one of the most highly-regarded physicians in the area. Our staff, providers and patients are so happy to be working with her.
Dr. Jedamski was born in Landshut, West Germany, and moved to the US at the age of 4. She spent most of her childhood in Maryland, where her family of twelve raised many farm animals and grew much of their own food. They were poor, but she was never bothered by this, and instead learned to appreciate hard work and the simpler things in life. She graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree in Biochemistry from the University of Maryland and was inducted with Highest Honors into the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. After earning her Medical Degree at the Loma Linda University School of Medicine, Dr. Jedamski began residency at the same institution in orthopedic surgery and subsequently in anesthesiology. She worked for many years as an anesthesiologist, and raised a wonderful son during this time. She enjoyed her son’s baseball and football games at Redlands High School, and was very involved in helping the team mothers. These women became a close-knit “family” to her, and helped her tremendously during a very difficult period in her life when she suffered from health problems. She had to quit providing anesthesia after 20 years because of this, but she did not want to stop caring for patients. Instead, she decided to reinvent her profession, and within two years finished a Master of Business Administration for Executives Program, a Master of Public Health Program, and an Occupational Medicine Residency. She truly enjoyed Occupational Medicine, but wished there was more she could do for her patients suffering in pain. So she was accepted into the renowned Pain Management Fellowship at UCSF, where she had the chance to work with one of program’s clinical professors – Dr. Doraiswamy. Upon completing this program, she felt she had finally found her calling in life, and has been treating chronic pain patients ever since.
Dr. Jedamski has discussed with staff and patients at The Pain Clinic that “working as a Pain Management Physician has been extremely rewarding and the right thing for me. Because of my medical problems I have dealt with, I feel more empathy for patients than most physicians I know. For many reasons, I feel that a multi-modal approach is the most effective treatment for almost all types of pain. I am grateful for The Pain Clinic team I just started working with, as they feel much the same. This is the only place I have worked that has allowed me to provide the best care I am capable of.”
In her free time, Dr. Jedamski loves to spend time with her family, especially her son and grandchildren. She also is extremely fond of animals, and often volunteers at animal rescues. She regularly goes to church, and is grateful that God has provided her with so many opportunities to help her family and patients.
We are honored to have such a wonderful, caring physician working with us at The Pain Clinic.
