Anylou Leano, DNP, RN, FNP, PHN

anylou leanoAnylou Leano, DNP, RN, FNP, PHN is one of the most accomplished nurse practitioners in the area. Prior to joining us in 2016, she was the office manager and main provider at Joint Medical – a multidisciplinary, integrated Sports & Physical Medicine Clinic. She has over 10 years of experience in treating patients with acute and chronic pain, and is fluent in Spanish. Dr. Leano is skilled in managing patients who have suffered personal injury from motor vehicle accidents.  She is very well-liked by our staff and patients, and is an integral part of our team.

Dr. Leano was born in Texas and grew up in San Diego County (Chula Vista). She spent four years in the Naval Sea Cadet Corps where she underwent basic military training as a teenager. She had the opportunity to visit different parts of the country on military planes and ships, where she was exposed to people from all walks of life. At a very young age, Dr. Leano grew to appreciate diversity, which is very important in her practice today. She was one of the few cadets in the nation selected to receive advanced training in Canada, and received multiple recognitions and awards during her military training.

Dr. Leano obtained her Doctorate Degree in Nursing Practice from Samuel Merritt University, where she graduated Cum Laude. She is certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner as well as a Public Health Nurse. She is also certified in advanced aesthetics and medical weight loss.  Dr. Leano has over 16 years of experience working in a wide variety of medical settings, including pain management clinics and surgery centers.  Anylou is appreciated by her patients for her skills and compassion. She takes a holistic approach to pain management, and provides individualized care plans for each of her patients. Anylou bases her treatment plans and recommendations on her patients’ goals. She firmly believes patients need to improve their function in order to truly improve their quality of life.

Anylou spends the little free time she has with her wonderful family. She lives at home with her husband, college-age daughter, infant, and disabled mother whom she cares for.
