Arul Doraiswamy, MD | Founder of The Pain Clinic
Double Board Certified Pain Management Specialist
Dr. Doraiswamy is the founder of The Pain Clinic. He has over 15 years of pain management experience, having worked as an Assistant Professor at the UCSF Pain Management Center, as well as the largest pain clinic in the Northern California Kaiser Permanente system. He always felt his calling was in private practice, so after moving to Southern California in 2009, he started a small pain management center. The Pain Clinic is now one of the busiest pain practices in the area.
Dr. Doraiswamy was born in Pennsylvania and grew-up in a small town in Oregon. He graduated cum laude with a Bachelors of Science degree from Marquette University and was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. He then received his medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin, where he graduated at the top of his class and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. After his internship at the University of Chicago, he completed his anesthesiology residency at the University of California, San Francisco, considered by many to be the premier anesthesiology residency program in the country. Upon completion of a pain management fellowship at UCSF, he was asked to stay-on as faculty, where he had the opportunity to train numerous residents and fellows in pain management, many of whom are now practicing in Southern California.
Dr. Doraiswamy is double-board certified in both Pain Management and Anesthesiology. He is one of the premier pain management specialists in the Inland Empire. The goal of his treatment is not just reduction in pain levels, but also the alleviation of suffering and the improvement in functionality. He is experienced in the most cutting-edge pain management techniques. Dr. Doraiswamy is confident patients in The Inland Empire who suffer from pain do not need to look beyond his practice, even if they are interested in the most advanced pain therapies. Dr. Doraiswamy is one of the most compassionate physicians you will ever meet. He has genuine interest in every patient’s life story, and has even been known to make house calls. He is highly trained and skilled in his profession, but what sets him apart from other pain doctors is the time he spends with his patients. He overbooks his schedule only during emergencies, which allows him to spend enough time with his patients. Dr. Doraiswamy believes this is essential in formulating an individualized, successful treatment plan for every patient. In his spare time, he likes to spend time with his family, travel, and watch sports. His wonderful wife is also a practicing physician. They both have their hands full at home with three rambunctious little boys.

He spent years working in a sports rehabilitation center in Colorado Springs, CO, prior to beginning his career as a physician assistant. Drawing on his own personal experiences, he feels blessed to have the opportunity to help patients manage their pain and improve their quality of life.
J.Z is known for his compassionate care. He has genuine interest in every patient’s unique pain history. J.Z. believes that treatment plans should be tailored to each individual patient, since no two patients have the exact same pain syndrome. He strives not just to reduce his patients’ pain, but also to improve their functionality, which is necessary to improve their happiness and sense of well-being. In his spare time, J.Z. likes to go camping and spend time with his wife and children. He is grateful to have the opportunity to work in Hemet, where he lives and has many community ties. Being able to spend more time with his family has allowed J.Z. to find a nice balance between being a medical provider, husband, and father.
